Nothing. You can simply remove the unit during inspection and replace it when the inspection is complete. The unit has a built-in battery that lasts about 1 hour without an incoming current.
Definitely. Trips are constantly reported in from your unit to our system where we store all trips and data. Should your unit lose power during a trip, the built-in battery will keep it going until you regain power. The battery lasts for about 1 hour.
Is it my responsibility as the driver to constantly check that the unit has not come loose if the mileage logbook unit is mounted in an exposed place and the cover cannot be put back on the unit?
Drivers should not need to concern themselves with accidentally jarring a unit. Each mileage logbook unit is delivered with an extension cord that can be used to connect the unit to the vehicle's OBD socket. The extension cord allows you to place the mileage logbook unit in a suitable place when your OBD socket is inconveniently located.
